Pairing runs through the app already on your phone, so there is nothing to download and no account to create. Open Find My or Find Hub, add the card, hold its button until it shows up, then give it a name. From then on it sits in the same list as everything else you track.

Yes. Set it up on Apple Find My if you carry an iPhone, or Android Find Hub if you carry Android. It is the same card either way, with no separate app to download. The one difference worth knowing is that left-behind alerts are an Apple Find My feature, so they are available on iPhone and not through Android Find Hub.
